Day Three of Costa Rica Sim's 2nd Year Anniversary started off with a splash as residents around Costa Rica Sims and Second Life gathered at the Rancho Pacifico Resort Marina for the 1st Annual CRS Regatta.
As the contestants manned their boats, their friends, family and onlookers stayed behind to party on the deck with entertainment provided by Studio Red.
Race by race, sailors lined up at the starting point and matched their skills against each other to see who would win the illustrious cup. Officials and well-wishers watched from sky platforms situated around Costa Rica Estates.
Meanwhile, back at the party, revelers continued to dance as they awaited news of the races taking place that day, to see who would win the grand prize of $35,000L (for a grand total of $75,000L worth of prizes).
That evening, Club E-co officially reopened, unveiling its new indoor/outdoor complex as residents dropped in for the 1st Annual Costa Rica Sims Cotillion and Awards Banquet. Created by Patch Thibaud, this new awe-inspiring multi-purpose complex could referred to as the Crown Jewel of the Costa Rica Sims estates ... the ambassador of entertainment and fun from our community to the rest of Second Life.
After walking around the new Club proper with jaws on the ground, guests began to slowly make their way to the outside venue for the Cotillion and Awards Banquet. Walking from the main thoroughfare, guests descended down into the small Roman-style amphitheater that surrounds the stage and dancefloor. Looking around the entire venue - encapsulated by Mission style side buildings - guests embraced the mood and partied as if they were literally at an ocean-side resort somewhere on the Costa Rican coastline.
Entertainment for the evening was provided by HammerFla Magic and ScarlettLa Roux who filled the night with familiar songs and special requests. Guests were elbow-to-elbow with SL celebrities and notables, including BOSL's Frolic Mills, Studio Red's Xochi Tolsen, and ... of course ... our own celeb: Giancarlo Takacs!

Hundreds of guests came throughout the star-studded two-hour and 15 minute event. At one time, the concurrency of avatars on the San Jose City sim was at 79 ... and we were worried that the sim might crash!
At the end of the evening, the Grand Prize of $35,000L and the Cup was awarded to CRS resident, Jaspar Recreant ... whose name will ever be remembered as the first winner of this now annual race.
