Costa Rica Sims July's Estate Status Report

Hello All,

It is hard to believe that we are just a month away from our 2nd anniversary. When the idea of creating the Costa Rica was born almost 24 months ago, at no moment did I think we were going to be able to achieve all of what our beautiful estate is known for in such a short period of time.

I remember in the 1st quarter of our estate, when we had 5 sims, traveling around SL, visiting other estates, and being amazed by some that were made of 15, 20, 25, or even 35 regions, thinking wow, it would so amazing if perhaps one day we can achieve having an estate that big. Now almost 2 years later, here we are, reaching 60 sims. We have become, what many consider, the best private estate in SL, with the best community with residents from 44 different countries around the world.

Our 2nd anniversary celebration promises to be a magnificent 4 days full of wonderful events, from September 10th through September 14th, 2009. We will post more details in the following weeks, but for now, I want to give you a little information about the events that require residents and friends of the estate to register for participation.

The Ladies’ Society Club will bring us 2 events on September 10th, 2009 that residents need to register for. Please send a notecard to Shelby Robbiani and name the notecard as follows: (Event Name) Registration (Your Full Name).

1-Most beautiful Parcel. Entries for the most beautiful parcel in the estate will be competing for a prize of 10,000L$ and some serious bragging rights. Residents interested in participating please include in the registration notecard the sim name and parcel landmark. Applications start today, with the deadline for application on Tuesday, September 1st, 12 noon SLT.
Note: This is an event only for Costa Rica Sims Residents

2- Second Annual Cookie Bear treasure hunt with a prize of 15,000L$. Those interested in participating need to register by Tuesday, September 1st, 12 noon SLT.
Note: This event is open to anybody.

Rancho Pacifico Resort- Marina

Our partners will bring us the 1st annual Costa Rica Sims Regatta September 12th, 2009 with a whopping 100,000L$ cash prize. For those interested in participating in the event please contact Geko Stoop or Quirky Torok.

Now let’s recap what happened within our estate in the month of July.

Land sales

Land sales increased compared to last month with 57 new residents moving in. The estate is at 98.7% occupancy. This remains an amazing task given that most estates are reporting large losses and high occupancy rates across the grid. Additionally, we added 1 more homestead to the estate this month.

Event Sim

We have decided to reallocate resources that were devoted to the maintenance and operation of the event sim and it will no longer be in service due to low demand and a low return on our investment. Instead, we will use the resources we were using for the event sim in other areas like creating more live shows, hiring singers, and subsidizing events hosted at E-co club, etc...

Events

Ladies' Society Romantic Rendezvous

This was a beautiful event presented by the Ladies' Society where couples were able to express their love for each other while being serenaded by the beautiful voice of Coda Cazalet. I would like to thank Shelby Robbiani, the new chairperson for the Ladies' Society, for all of her hard work and dedication. Shelby has also created a new welcome bag for members of the Ladies' Society. Please contact her if you have not received your bag.

Rezz Day Party

E-co club provided a perfect venue for this month's rezz day party with a great attendance by residents and friends. This was the first rezz party hosted at our Club and this will be the new direction we will take for our rezz parties. Later on we will take advantage of the high prim capacity at E-co into creating theme parties like we did before.

Wedding

Another couple of residents celebrated that special moment, this time we had Jaqueline Luik and Ian Humby having this special ceremony at the Costa Rica Sims Ladies' Society Botanical Gardens. On behalf of all of us here, I wish them much happiness.

Costa Rica Sims Designer Showcase

This month's event showcased Icing and Pinup Dolls and was another masterpiece built by our estate manager Rawly Rousselot. It was the last show presented by MAD Agency, which we would like to thank for their wonderful contribution to our estate. I will explain below the new direction our estate will take about the monthly fashion shows.

Upcoming projects

Creation of Costa Rica Sims Productions

This group will take charge of the monthly fashion shows that the estate will put on and for use in other venues. Since we have most of the well known models in SL and all of our events are designed for the community, we thought it would be a great idea to engage the models within our community. Clyde Saunders, one of SL’s top male models, face of AlphaMale and a fellow resident, will be the director of this group. If you are a model and interested in being apart of it, please contact Clyde Saunders. The first show will be in October in order to give time for the Costa Rica Sims Productions to gather all models and create the necessary database.

Costa Rica Sims Living Magazine

Another new venture that is apart of the Costa Rica Sims brand and long over due. This magazine will showcase our well known brand and will be created by the community and for the community. If you would like to learn more, read it about in one of our previously posted blogs.

Amenities

We added a new horseback riding rezzer that is much better to use than the previous one. I found this new device while visiting the house of one of our longtime residents Carmichael Caudron, so thanks Carmi!

Horseback riding has always been a fun way to discover and travel around our beautiful estate, so if you want to try it out for yourself please visit Volcan Arenal National Park.

Merchant News

3 new stores joined our shopping district: Angels, DCNY and Dellybeams Gem Gallery. From fabulous shoes to gorgeous gowns to beautiful jewelry make sure to visit these new stores at our shopping district.

DCNY is one of the sponsors of the Miss Costa Rica Sims 2010.

Also my favorite designer and goof friend, Maruko Sakigake, owner and creator of the most realistic jeans and tees, WMD, released 4 new amazing jeans.

We also got a thank you e-mail by the president of the trust.

Dear Donor:

Thank you for your donation to the Leatherback Trust on June 10, 2009. Your contribution of $13.03 will help support the 2009-2010 season at Playa Grande.

I want to especially thank you in the name of the students and research assistants who are working so hard at Playa Grande this year. Although the 2008-2009 season was slow with only 25 individuals nesting, we hope that numbers will improve in 2009-2010.

Your help allows us to continue our work and will directly help to save the leatherback turtle from extincition.

Sincerely,

James R. Spotila, PhD
President
