May's Estate Status Report

Hello! As summer finally arrives in some parts of the world it is time to recap all the wonderful things that happened around our estate in the month of May.

Good News: Homestead Pricing to be Grandfathered if purchased before July 1st, 2009.

As you may remember last year, Linden Lab announced a tier increase on homestead regions. The first increase took place in early 2009 and the second one was due to take place on July 1, 2009. On May 26th, Linden Lab announced tiers for homesteads will remain the same for one year, no increase scheduled for those who currently own homesteads. This is great news for all residents who own parcels on homesteads since you will not have to worry about a tier increase for at least 12 months. Linden Lab attributes this pricing policy to increased stabilization of the in-world economy, particularly in terms of land sales. For those of you still interested in purchasing a homestead and taking advantage of Linden Lab’s offer, please contact me to arrange your land purchase before July 1st, 2009.

Land Expo 2009.

We have been invited to the Land Expo 2009, an event that explores the innovative uses of land in SL. The event takes place from Tuesday, June 9th through Saturday, June 13th. The event promises to be an exciting way to learn more about land use, design, and management. Anyone who wants to come and participate in helping us promote the Costa Rica Sims, please contact Giancarlo.

Saving the leatherback turtles.

Let me share with you a little project my good friend Tunes Meness and I decided to create. Many of you know tunes from all the wonderful products he creates under his brand ::2Xtreme::, he has been a huge supporter of the Costa Rica Sims project since the early days, creating the butterflies our new residents get in their welcome bags and also the Macaw collection and most recently he has been working on the leatherback turtles we use at Las Baulas National Park.

Tunes and I share a deep love for environmental causes and we are the kind of people that truly believe that we all can make a difference when it comes of making our planet a better place not only for humans but for all other species as well. We truly believe all forms of life on this planet are connected and depend on each other. One day, while having a conversation about it, I asked him if he would be interested in helping me create awareness about the difficult situation the leatherback turtles are in these days.

These beautiful creatures are the longest-living marine species ever to ply the world’s oceans. They survived the catastrophic asteroid impact that killed the dinosaurs, but sadly the leatherback sea turtle, the largest turtle in the world is on the brink of extinction. There is one great organization called the Leatherback Turtle Trust and we want to help them protect this endangered species. Tunes has created a beautiful statue and we have it for sale at all of our different amenities around our estate for 270L$ which equals to $1 USD. According to The Leatherback Turtle Trust website, $1 USD helps save 1 leatherback turtle egg. All proceed from the sales will go to the Leather Back Trust via Paypal. We have created an avatar named Armando Piers to receive the donations and each month we will post screenshots of the account showing how much money was donated and a screenshot of the paypal transaction to the Leatherback Turtle Trust. I do hope that you will find time to donate. Please visit their webpage, to learn how you can keep helping them in this noble cause.

Note: By may 31st 2009 and, 3,780L$ have been collected. I would like to thank, Teegan Daines, Richardw Betsen, Bjorn Delphin, Hajo Drechsler, Starshine Serendipity, Maurice Messmer, Lorella Piaggio, Brian Lindman, Lill Chaffe, MacPhista Lemmon, Kaiki Ishtari, Anna Landau & Azufr3 Catteneo.

Land Sales

Land sales for the month of May were steady with last month. We do expect, as summer arrives in some parts of the world, less people will be joining second life so therefore see a little decrease in land sales in the coming months.

New Residential Sim

Couple of weeks ago we added our newest residential full prim sim Playa Conchal and we are happy to report that it is sold out.

Events

Rezdays Party

May’s rezz party was a blast! Grease is one of my favorite movies of all time. As usual Rawly outdid himself by building the wonderful venue.

Starting in june we will move our monthly rezzparty to 4:00 PM SLT

Costa Rica Designers Showcase

What an amazing show that was! The venue, the designs and of course the handling of the event by our business partners MAD Agency was flawless. Big kudos go to Sissy Pessoa, Kirk Claymore, Maddox Dupont and to one of the hardest working woman on the grid Miss Risa Bright and of course to our very own Rawly and Azu.

Museum of Contemporary art grand opening

Another fabulous event! I know lots of things can be call art and it all depends in the eye of the beholder, but even though I enjoy looking at SL photos, for me in my personal opinion the art I enjoy the most even in second life is the one created by the people behind the avatars with a brush. I have attended many gallery openings in my SL, but I have never seen so many RL artists in one location at once as I did at the grand opening of The Criss. Make sure to visit this masterpiece.

First wedding at the event sim

I want to congratulate our first couple of residents that held that special moment at our event sim. On behalf of all of us here, I would like to wish Mr. Joseph3 Shelford and his bride Ms. Pink lots of happiness.

New Amenities

We at the Executive Team cannot be happier to see our residents entrepreneurs succeed in their personal projects. As you may already know, the Rancho Pacifico Resort has been a total success and we are happy to report that this project keeps growing and now offers a beautiful marina as well. And of course, it was just a matter of time that some other residents would come with a great idea. This time from Ms. Katerina Burner and her partner Scotj Criss thanks to this wonderful couple we now have a gorgeous Museum of Contemporary Art named The Criss were you will see some of the best art work in SL and since we have some many artists living among us, make sure to contact them if you want to exhibit your art.

Merchant News

On behalf of all of us, I would like to welcome Moonstar store to the estate. Our estate journalist Olyvia Zenovka has an article about this new store at her fashion column.

Upcoming Projects

Family themed Sims

When the idea to create the Costa Rica Sims was born, it was our dream that everybody would enjoy the virtual representation of the nature wonders of my country. Later when the project took a turn and became also a place for people to have their SL homes, we discovered that there was a market we were not targeting. Family role play has been something we have been watching closely for some time now, very frequently we have been asked why we don’t offer the possibility for people engaged in the family role play to enjoy what the Costa Rica Sims is known for; A beautiful estate were residents from all backgrounds can enjoy discovering one another and building friendships. After much consideration we are happy to announce that in the coming months we will start offering family oriented Sims.

These regions will be located east of our estate and will have a PG rating. Our current covenant will apply to these regions and we will add some new clauses just for those regions. Only families will be allowed to buy parcels on these regions

The layout of the family oriented regions will be neighborhood style, with roads in front of the parcels, parks for kid avatars to play etc…

We have started talking to the best designers in SL that offer products made for kid avatars in order to create a commercial area just for kids. Also a couple of residents have some great ideas for their personal projects that would like to create for this idea.

If any of you have any questions about this project don’t hesitate to contact me.

New Welcome Center

Many of the people that visit our estate for the first time land at our real estate office. For some time now, Rawly and I been talking about the need of having a more elegant area, since first impressions matter. I presented Rawly with some photos of a building here in Costa Rica, which I thought would be perfect for this kind of project. Rawly agreed the building would work well with the overall look of the estate and today I‘m happy to report that construction is almost done. This new welcome center will not only be the main landing point for our visitors but it will also host the tier machines, a welcome area and a conference room. Once the building is in its final position we will update the taxi hud.

Finally I would like to welcome all the residents that moved to our community in the month of May: Adem, Adam,  Alesha, Anima, Bray, Cherith, Christian, Colt, Delacia, Drago, Ducati, Emeraldmist, Farris, Garrett, Georgianna, Gonzalok , Grace, Gray, Harmonica, IndigoSky, Javier, Kaiju, Karma, Katerine, Keira, Kiwigirl, LaTaea , Libertie, Lilyanah, Marco, Mink, Niccolo, Nykus, Nisa, Oz, Pwei, Sheppard, Sienna, Sloan, Sonricita, Tabby, Teegan, Uriah, Urner, Zasa & Zephor.

So there you go, as we enter summer our estate keeps shining more and more, until next time!

Love & Light,

Gian
