April's Estate Status Report

 Hello all,

April brought us a few new and exciting things to our beautiful estate. So let’s go into the details and recap the month of April.

Land Sales

I've been reading for sometime now in some blogs how SL is in a recession, just like the real world, but since our estate has been growing steady, I thought it was not affecting us. Well now Linden Lab has just released the numbers for Q1 2009 and they looks really promising. You may want to read their report here

Land sales in our estate for the month of April were steady with the excellent numbers from March, with 43 new residents moving to the estate in April, so we are going ahead with our initial plans for expansion set last October for the year of 2009.

New Residential Sim

Just a couple of weeks ago we ordered our latest residential sim Playa Grande and it's already sold out!

Events

E-co Club Grand opening & Rezzdays party.

Many people have asked me in the past about the reason why we here at the Costa Rica Sims didn’t have a dance club since partying is one of the most popular activities in SL. My answer was always the same, since clubs come and go we wanted to create something that was consistent with our brand. When our long time resident and Rancho Pacifico Resort owner Geko Stoop approached me with the idea of the club and showed me what she had in mind, right away we agreed that it was the perfect next step for our estate. Now residents will have the opportunity to party non-stop. Be sure to check their weekly schedule.

This past month in celebration of the arrival of E-co Club we hosted our monthly rezzdays party there with a huge turnout. Many more happy rezzdays to our residents: Baldric, Dar, Donald, Elixir, Florentine, Jaspar, Jonny, Juleee, Lyla, Lyric, Maxim, Novus, Olyvia, Rommy & Yanneck.

Rancho Pacifico Resort Friday Poolside Party

The event is rapidly becoming the place to be on Fridays, with a huge attendance every week, the best live performers and DJs can be head every week at the Resort. If you haven’t been there yet, make sure to attend the next big party!

New Amenities

Las Baulas National Park

I am happy to announce the addition of a new National Park to our estate. Just like all the other National Parks around, our latest one is the virtual representation of the real park.
Las Baulas National Park is located in the northern province of Guanacaste and it is the most important nesting site for the leatherback turtles along the Pacific Ocean. It is also known for the great surfing and white sand beaches. So please visit Las Baulas National Park to learn a little bit more about the natural wonders of Costa Rica.

Costa Rica Ladies’ Society Botanical Garden

This beautiful structure situated next to our Estate Mansion features a lovely formal garden, beautifully manicured and perfumed with romance. It will also host various events by the Costa Rica Ladies’ Society and make a perfect backdrop to take that special someone on a stroll beneath the dramatic dome. So take a few moments to wander beneath the airy archways, linger by the fountains, and drift among the flowers. It is also available for residents to use for free for private events.

Our New Partnership

It was announced a few days ago about the exciting new partnership between the Costa Rica Sims and MAD Agency. For those of you not familiar with MAD Agency, it is part of the KMADD Enterprise brand. The best shapes, the male fashion capital, the best fashion shows and the best parties in SL.

Owners Kirk Claymore and Maddox DuPount have been some of my oldest and dearest friends here in SL, and gave me my first break as a model back in 2007. So when we started looking for a new agency to take over the monthly Designers Showcase there was no doubt that MAD Agency was the only choice. For those of you not aware of the amazing events KMADD is known for, well you are in for an exciting ride.

The Designers Showcase fashion show will continue to be on the third Saturday of each month at the event sim, but instead of 1 show, we well repeat the same show twice. This is in order to accommodate the large crowds that always attend their shows.

Merchant News

In April, we welcomed 3 fabulous designers to our shopping district and a gallery.

Leatherback turtles by 2xtreme

I want to thank my good friend and talented creator Tunes Meness of 2xtreme for creating the leatherback turtles found at our new national park, even though they are still in BETA release, those turtles are looking really good!

A little something from us to those celebrating their love!

A great percentage of the Costa Rica Sims residents are partnered and some have gone even further and married each other. Many times we have been asked if they can hold their wedding here at our estate, so in order to give a little back to those residents in love and taking the next step, we have decided to let residents use the event sim for free in order to hold that special ceremony there. This will need to be done in a way where residents thinking about getting married will have to give us the date in advance (at least 8 weeks) in order for us to accommodate them and all the other already scheduled events.

As for today we don’t offer a wedding planner, but if you know of someone that would be interested in a joint venture with the Costa Rica Sims please let us know.

Upcoming Projects

Art Museum

In an effort to support the arts and the very talented artists living in our estate, a new modern art museum is under construction next to the Estate Mansion for all residents to enjoy. Stay tuned for details on the grand opening and contact Katerina Burner, Director of the Museum, for more information.

Park Rangers

As an extension to the Resident Liaison Team, we are developing a Park Ranger program. Park Rangers will offer guided tours of the Estate and help you get to know what Costa Rica has to offer. The tour will take you around most of the amazing sites of Costa Rica. It will include the beautiful landscapes and wildlife in the rainforest and a visit to the scuba diving area to see the coral reefs and the beautiful fish and sharks roaming around, (with a bit of a surprise if they are hungry). You will also visit the spectacular active volcano and relax while horseback riding on the beautiful hillsides that offer breathtaking views of the Estate. The tour will eventually take you to our shopping district, designed to reflect Costa Rica’s Spanish colonial heritage and where you can find stores from the best designers in SL. While taking the tour, the rangers can chat and answer any questions you may have and it is also a good way of meeting new people and making friends here.

Marina

We are very pleased to see how successful the idea of the Rancho Pacifico Resort has been. We would like to congratulate long time resident and resort owner, Geko Stoop, for doing an amazing job with this project. We are happy to announce that the resort is expanding and will be adding the only marina within the estate, where residents of the estate and guests of the resort will be able to lease a docking space for their boats/yachts.
