March Estate Status Report

Hello all,

March was an excellent month in many way for the Costa Rica Sims. So like every month lets recap all that happened within our beautiful estate.

Land Sales

March was an excellent month for land sales, the best so far in 2009! This is great news when we should consider that many other estates in second life are reporting huge losses and many are disappearing. Just a few weeks ago, a long time friend and fellow Estate Owner, had to let go of his 30+ Sims estate because he couldn’t handle the loss and stresses he was meeting.
55% of new residents are coming from Europe, 45% from the USA and Canada and the remaining 5% from other parts of the world. Word of mouth seems to be how new residents are finding out about our beautiful estate, and I cannot thank you enough for all the great things you are telling your friends about how you feel living in the Costa Rica Sims.

New Residential Sim

Just last week we ordered our new full prim region Guanacaste Noroeste.  This means that there are still plenty of parcels for those wanting to become residents, don’t forget to tell your friends that when they buy to mention you as a referral so you can get your commission!

Events

The Mr. Costa Rica Sims Pageant.

I have mixed emotions about the pageant, but one thing I can say is that I am really proud of all the guys who participated and everyone involved in putting the event together. Many thanks to Clyde and Olyvia for all their hard work, the sponsors and judges for their support and a huge HOO to Bjorn for winning the title. In an estate as vast as ours sometimes it's really hard to meet all your fellow residents, being the CEO gives me the great treat of being able to meet all of you and I must tell you that Bjorn is one of the kindest, sweetest and most polite guys I have ever met in SL, I'm completely sure he will represent us all well at the Mr. Virtual World. I do hope that next year we will have more resident participation and support in future pageants.

The Costa Rica Sims Shortboard Pro

Costa Rica in real life, is well known for the great surfing around some of the most exotic beaches in the world. Our fellow resident and Executive Team member Jac Mornington has always been a fan of anything that has to do with water. It was quite an honor that he was able to get the Second Life Surfing Association (SLSA) to host a two weekend event at our estate. Jac tells me that the representatives of the SLSA said this was one of the best events ever! Many thanks to the SLSA people and Jac Mornington for putting together this amazing event, and I heard through the grape vine that many good things are coming to the Costa Rica Sims for those who love this magnificent sport, so we will keep you posted.

Costa Rica Designers Showcase WMD & Juju´s Closet

What a great fashion show that was! I have to admit that it has been my favorite so far! Many kudos as always to RUNWAY Productions for an amazing show. Many of you may not know that I started my SL as a model for MAD Agency and trust me when I tell you that being a model in SL is not as easy as it may seem.  You have to fight the lag that keeps you from walking and posing, you have to worry about your items not attaching and crashing in the middle of the catwalk among so many other things.  It is why every time I see the amazing models from RUNWAY doing their stuff that I truly see how good they are!
Maruko Sakigake designer and owner of WMD has been one of my closets friends for quite sometime now, but putting our friendship apart I believe at heart that he is also one of the best male designers around I feel that when it comes to Jeans and Tees no one comes close to him.  For those of you who are not familiar with the WMD brand, make sure to stop by his store at our commercial district and you will see what I’m talking about.

March's Rezdays Party

What a sexy party that was! I love our monthly rezz parties for many reasons.  Not only are they are fun to put together, but most of all it is a time when we can see each other in one place.  March brought us the Gods & Goddesses theme party and gave us the opportunity to show some smexy beef around! Happy rezdays to our march residents!  Hoo!

New Amenities

Hovercraft tours.

I'm happy to report that 90% of the hovercraft routes are finished.  Hovercraft stations are placed around the different amenities within our estate, so if you haven’t done a hovercraft tour, take one and go into mouse look mode.  I promise you will have a wonderful experience discovering new things of the land you call home in SL.

Update on Palo Verde National Park

Our newest national park is almost done. One thing I love hearing from many of you is when you tell me that you saw a program about Costa Rica on the Discovery Channel or National Geographic Channel. In RL.  It's one of my favorite places to visit here in Costa Rica since Palo Verde is one of the places of more ecological diversity of the country.  Approximately 15 different habitats, created by the topography, exist within it’s boarders.  The area is extremely affected by the conditions, including the drainage, the rivers overflow and the tides effects. So if you haven’t visited the National Park yet, I strongly recommend you do it.

Update on Cocos Island

Since opening the park, I've been talking almost every day with the people from the Costa Rica Tourism board, and they asked me to thank you for all your votes and support on this project. For those of you who haven’t voted yet please do so at http://www.cocosisland.org and help us all make Cocos Island one of the New 7 Wonders Of Nature.
Also, it was announced a couple of weeks ago via group notice that the Costa Rica Tourism Board has a video of Cocos Island in SL on the official page of Costa Rica.  I invite you to take a look at this wonderful video at http://visitcostarica.com

The Dance Club

It was just a matter of time before our estate would get his own... DARN that news was not meant to be for this month's report! Oh well just one thing move SIMPLY THE BEST!

Merchant News

I am proud to announce our latest business collaboration, this time with Jon Haskell. Now all of you have a chance to have a little piece of the beautiful fauna of Costa Rica. Jon created a series of animals for our Palo Verde National Park, it is just amazing how good he is handling sculpties in order to create all these realistic animals. Make sure to visit the information station at Palo Verde National Park to see his creations.

We also have two new stores for the ladies at our shopping district, Haute Style & Co and Fashion Nomads

So there you have it!  Another month and more exciting and positive news. As always, I would like to welcome the new residents that moved to our estate in the month of march: Aeteia, Andromeda, Anessa, Andros, Bren, Carrie, Crys, DeAngelo, Dee, Dimitri, Dyan, Farah, H8, Ivana, Jax, Kraven, Kent, Kristen, Labella, Lach, Lyla, Marc, Marcopol, Morgana, Nogi, Odam, Phoenix, Pierre, Sheldon, Suzaine, Sylvie, Thorr, Trott, Xavier, Yanneck & Yanne.

Love & Light,

Gian
