Costa Rica Sims Shortboard Pro!!!!

 alt

Costa Rica Sims is proud to sponsor the Second Life Surfing Association (SLSA) for a two weekend Surfing Competition.  The SLSA holds two seasons per year, and for Season 1, Costa Rica Sims Pacifico Norte 1 Sim was chosen.  You might also know this Sim as the North Surfing Beach or even as Playa Santa Teresa.  It is quite an honor to be chosen to host an SLSA event as the criteria requires a good venue that can support a spectator crowd on an adjacent sim, Class V servers as well as good waves!  Our estate has all that and more!

On March 14th, the second competition for the SLSA 2009 Season 1, the Costa Rica Sims Shortboard Pro Surf-In will kick off at 11am SLT.  SLSurfers from all over the grid have registered to participate and will be judged in a multi-heat competition.  Two surfers from each heat will be selected to advance to the Costa Rica Sims Shortboard Pro Main Event that will be held on Saturday, March 21st also at 11am SLT.

Pacifico Norte 1 or Playa Santa Teresa will be closed to all but SLSA Officials and those surfers competing on March 14th, but all are welcome to come down to Peninsula Nicoya Sur where the viewing stands will be positioned.  Also located on this parcel will be a recreation of the little surfing town of Santa Teresa, Costa Rica.  Here we will have music, dancing, shopping and fun!  Azu Catteneo, our very own Costa Rica Sims DJ, will start the day at 11am SLT and his tunes will entertain until 12:15pm.  Then we will be treated to the sounds of Tonio Roffo, a long time Costa Rica Sims resident at 12:15pm.  Rounding out the day, starting at 3pm will be Simon Pearse.  Either watching the surfers, dancing or meeting with friends…while at the event, you will be treated with some awesome music!

So get out the suntan lotion, put some zinc on your nose and head over to Peninsuala Nicoya Sur on Saturday March 14th at 11am SLT to enjoy the all afternoon SLSA Costa Rica Sims Shortboard Pro competition!!  Two of our residents will be competing in the Surf In – Jac Mornington and Aldo Courtois, so be sure to show your support when theyu are on the waves!!!   For the best viewing, sit in the stands above the sim and follow these hints to improve your spectator experience:

1.  Increase the Draw Distance of Your Camera.  To do this, click the Edit menu at the top of the screen.  Select Preferences, then the Graphics Tab.  In the Draw Distance category, click on the small up arrow to change the setting to at least 192 (224 is better).  Click the Apply button, and then the Okay button.  Please note that changing this setting will cause slower loading of data, as computers process more information with increased draw distance.

2.  Disable Camera Constraints.  To do this the Client menu must be visible at the
top of the screen.  If it is not visible, press the Ctrl+Alt+Shift+D key combination
(Command[also known as Apple key]+Option+Shift+D on Macs) to open the Client Menu.  Click on the Client menu at the top of the screen and select Disable Camera Constraints.

3.  Zoom in by Using the Camera Controls Panel.  Click on the View menu at the top of the screen and select "Camera Controls."  A control panel opens which can be dragged anywhere on the screen that is convenient.  To zoom, click on the plus symbol.  To zoom out, click on the minus symbol.

4.  Track a Moving Avatar.  Once zoomed in close enough to see a particular avatar, left-click and hold the Alt key to "cam lock."  The camera will now follow that avatar until the Esc key is pressed.

Hope to see you all there!!
