February's Estate Status Report

Hello all,

February was one exciting month for the Costa Rica Sims. The month we celebrate the most romantic date of the year brought so many wonderful things for our beautiful estate,. We have so much to talk about so go to your fridge and get a six pack because this is going to be one long report. Let‘s recap.

The arrival of Cocos Island.

As you all know I'm totally in love with my native country and I feel so blessed every time I hear from any of you how much you love the virtual representation of Costa Rica. Many of you know by now that the original idea for the Costa Rica Sims was to promote my native country and the importance of living in harmony with nature. With the arrival of Cocos Island, it gives a bigger name to the Costa Rica Sims brand. By having the trust of a government agency such as the ICT (Instituto Costarricense de Turismo) or Costa Rica Tourism Board and FAICO ( Fundacion Amigos de la Isla Del Coco) Or Friends of Cocos Island Foundation, it shows the credibility and solid bases our estate has. When we achieved creating the best virtual community of residents in Second Life, our next step was to convince corporate businesses, educational institutions, and government agencies to come to Second Life and explore all the benefits they can get out of this platform. Let me tell you that Cocos Island is just the beginning.

Even with this huge step forward, we cannot forget the original goal and that why we must keep working together to create awareness of the importance of taking good care of our planet. Please remember to vote for Cocos Island, so that in a few months we can proudly say that we are the only estate in Second Life that hosts one of the New 7 Wonders Of Nature of real life.

Also the Costa Rica Tourist Board or ICT  which runs the official webpage for Costa Rica just added the video for the virtual representation of Cocos Island, you may want to take a look and learn more about the island and Costa Rica. http://visitcostarica.com

Our New Residential Sim

Land sales during the month of February were a little slow, even so we were able to add a new residential sim. Guanacaste Oeste is located next to our new national park. Don’t forget about the land referral programs, tell your friends to become part of our community and in the process earn some lindens.

Events

Costa Rica Ladies' Society Valentine's Ball

What a beautiful event this was. I believe those of you who attended the event will agree with me when I say that our Estate Manager and builder, Rawly Rousselot, out did himself one more time. Many thanks to Rawly, Gigi, Denarra and everyone else involved creating the most romantic event to date within our estate.

Costa Rica Designers Showcase

One hot event! The summer setting, again created by Rawly, hosted our hottest fashion show to date. With designs by Kal Rau, Vitamen, & Get Butch along with the help to the hot male models from RUNWAY, more than a few eyebrows were raised during the show. Many thanks to the RUNWAY Productions team for yet another great show.

February´s Rezzdays Party

A double celebration event not only we celebrated the rezzdays for our February's residents but we also celebrated the rezz of the Cocos Island into our estate. With the hot tunes provided by our own DJ Azu this proved to be another fun event for residents and friends of our estate.

New Amenities

Fashion Confessions

We are proud to announce that we have once again opened up a new fashion blog on our website. This time, it will be a little different than your every day blogs. Exploring the fantastic creations of the vendors located within the Commercial District of the Costa Rica Sims, as well as taking us on a journey of all of the different attractions and events held throughout our Estate. Written by Costa Rica Executive, Olyvia Zenovka, she is joined by Clyde Saunders on occasion to venture on the various activities in Fashion Confessions.

Hovercraft and balloon tours.

When we started the Costa Rica Sims our Estate was known as one of the most interactive estates in SL. With the help of one time manager, and talented scripter, Miss Emileigh Starbrook, we had our first hovercraft tours. This fun gadget was able to give residents and friends fun tours between all of the amenities our estate offers. Later on with the release of new simulators we encountered some problems with the physics engine that forced us to put all hovercrafts on hold. Today, I am happy to report that the hovercrafts will be roaming our estate one more time, as well as the beloved balloon rides will be back. Our good friend and resident, Rufferto Rutherford, is making all the new routes as we speak. However, this will take time since over 110 routes need to be created to cover over 3,000,000 square meters. Once this is done, I promise you exploring the different amenities around our estate will take on a different meaning.

Palo Verde National Park

We have added a new National Park to our Estate. Palo Verde National Park has a uniquely dichotomous character. It’s simultaneously a spectacular wetlands and one of the best examples of tropical dry forests remaining anywhere in the world. I would like to thank our friend, resident and talented landscaper Maurice Messmer for all his hard work recreating the Tropical Dry Forest environment. Also our Security Chief Jac Mornington for finding Jon Haskell, and convinced him to take a risk in creating the amazing little animals and birds that Palo Verde National Park is known for. The new National Park reflects our continuous commitment to teach residents and friends the importance of living in harmony with nature, as well as caring about all of the different species the world has to offer. Once the National Park is completed, we will have lots of species of birds, an information center, and a guided boat tour.

The Resort

When the idea of the resort was presented to the Executive Team for evaluation, right away we understood the importance to help our entrepreneur residents realized their goals. Many times you have heard me telling others that even though my name shows as the estate owner I believe at heart that the real owners are the residents. Why? The answer is simple. Without any of you there would be no Costa Rica Sims today! I am happy to report that the Resort is full and there is a waiting list. This idea made total sense, since not all people wanting to live in our beautiful estate have the resources to afford a full parcel. We encourage all residents that if they want to create a project let the Executive Team know.

Don’t forget that every Thursday the resort has a poolside party, starting at 2:00 PM SLT. With six full hours of entertainment including live performers and DJ’s, it’s not an event you want to miss.

Casa Spa By Dorian Grand Opening

No Estate like ours would be complete without a spa. For those of you who are not aware this is another private project approved by the Executive Team. Casa Spa offers a tranquil environment for relaxing where you can be pampered and treated like a king or queen. The spa offers different treatments and a friendly staff waiting to cater to your needs.

Merchant News

We are so happy to report that we still collaborating with amazing content creators to bring products inspired by the Costa Rica Sims. One of the things new residents and visitors notice about our estate when they first visit, are all the environmental sounds. Today our good friends Hastur Pierterson and Velma Aldwych, from Acoustic Alchemy, took the time to create an exclusive line of environmental sounds native to Costa Rica. If you haven’t heard them, trust me when I tell you that adding these little orbs to your parcel gives a total different sensation of your overall Second Life experience.

We have many more surprises with other content creators in the future, and as they come into fruition we will be informing you through the website. Make sure you keep an open eye on our webpage to keep up to date on all of the excitement happening around the Costa Rica Sims.

So there you have it. A full month of exciting news with much more to come. Make sure that you don’t forget that next weekend we will be crowning our very first Mr. Costa Rica Sims at 10am on March 7, 2009.

As always, I would like to welcome the new residents tht moved to our estate in the month of february, Accountant, Amerie, Aston, Brad, Coldfire, Dancer,Dar, Dezz, Donald, Elke, Event, Flower, Gabrielle, Gargoyle, James, Jonas, Juju, Juni, Kyra, Lazzerio, Les, Maggy, Nilene, Pain, Patrice,Peppe, Pilz, Rania, Rob, Ryne, Sharpie & Stephen.
