October 2008 Estate Status Report

 Hello Friends,

Last month was a rollercoaster of emotions with so much going on around SL. At one moment, we were happy since we were able to reach 60 sims. At another moment, we were no so happy, because of Linden Lab’s recent policy changes, which will effectively lead to the end of the open spaces sim era as we know it. Due to the latest announcement from Linden Lab, the Estate has no other choice than to start converting open spaces into full regions. I will be posting more details in the recent days once we hear more from Linden Lab. As always, with every decision we take, we will be thinking about what is best for the Estate and its residents. In the past, as I’ve always said, there can be no Estate without its real owners, the residents.

Halloween 2008 will be remembered as a milestone within SL on how parties/events are going to be held from now on. The days when you could teleport and arrive in the middle of the party are over. I am sure creators of other entertainment venues for parties will soon follow the signature design element of Charlotte Bartlett and the Scarlet Creative Team, namely maneuvering through a variety of scenes and settings in order to reach the final party destination. For those of you who did not attend the party, feel free to visit the venue. Just follow that slurl: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Puntarenas%205/129/117/1981.

Be sure to set your environment setting to revert to region default. A more detailed review of the party, written by Sunshine Zhangsun, can be found at our Events section. Additionally, you can see pictures from the event on our Flickr site: http://www.flickr.com/photos/costaricasims/.

We would also like to congratulate Kirk Claymore for winning best in costume, 20,000L cash prize, and a Scarlet Creative home of his choice. Lastly, thank you to Charlotte Bartlett and Scarlet Creative, for bringing what has been called by many, including myself, the best event held within our Estate to date.

November is going to be full of weekend events. First stop, Sunday, November 9th, 1-3 pm SLT, we will be flying the friendly skies with our DJ Azu Catteneo for our November Rezz Party, which will be held at the airport.

Next, on Saturday, November 15th, we will have our Cookie Bear Treasure Hunt. Sway Dench, from Sway Designs, and the rest of the amazing designers within our shopping district all have donated items that we will spread out over our 4 different commercial regions.

Finally, as usual, on behalf of everyone in the Costa Rica Sims and the Executive Team, I would like to welcome our new residents: Aline, Ava, Alexzel3D, Breeze, Brett, Cedric, Cualquiera, Danial, Ironman, Keir, Krissy, Mane, Mogens, Oz, Richard, Sanford, Robnhood, & Tink. Welcome home!

As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Love & Light,

GC
