Recap of Our 1st Anniversary Celebration

Hello Friends,

It is official: Costa Rica’s 1st Anniversary Celebration was an outstanding success! I would like to take this moment to thank the Executive Team and everyone who was involved in the various committees. Let us take a few moments to look back on some of the highlights from the weekend.

Treasure Hunt

It was so funny seeing so many familiar faces gathering together for the Treasure Hunt. As many of you know, the Treasure Hunt took the hunters through nine sims. Many got lost and many visited the same areas more than once, but throughout it all we had a great time. At the end our resident, Marius Polikarpov, was the lucky winner of $100,000 L which we raised with the help of our residents. Costumes used by the cast members were just exceptional. The details on the devil costume worn by Brian Lindman were amazing.

It was equally entertaining to see the beautiful HarMonica Aabye sporting a new look for the event.

Additionally, our resident Karima Hoisan, dazzled the crowd with her rendition of our illustrious mermaid.

After being ejected by Geko Stoop for not answering the riddle correctly, Rufferto Rutherford saved the day by becoming our famed pirate. He not only acted as a last minute replacement for our original cast member, who was a no-show, he also ensured that poor Karima would not spend the rest of her days with scales and fins and once again be able to dance up a storm at her corral. The temple, with an elaborate maze inside and owned by our dear friend and resident Geko Stoop, was simply breathtaking and thanks to her generously, it is now one of the many attractions within our Estate. Make sure to visit the temple when you have time.

Once again congratulations to Marius Polikarpov for winning the $100,000L!

Treasure Hunt After-Party

Our next stop was the Treasure Hunt After-Party where two pirate ships  were chose to accommodate our guests.

During the party Marius Polikarpov was given the $100,000 L.

The wonderful Syriana Paine came to our rescue when our resident DJ Azu Catteneo was unable to attend (we still love you Azu). She kept the pirates entertained with her sexy voice and amazing tunes for two hours. At the end, our resident PuNKka Hax and good friend Kane Maruti went home with $7,500 L each for best in costume.

Art Festival

Saturday brought us to the Art Festival. Guests were entertained by the beautiful voices of our resident CQ Bravin and his father-in-law Randyb Magic.

Guests were also treated to view sculptures, photography, and painting by some of the best artists in Second Life. The art is still available for residents and visitors to view for the rest of this week, so make sure to stop by the shopping district and take a look since some of the art is also for sale.

Tinies Gone Wild

Next up, Costa Rica went wild, tiny style! For me this was the most fun event of all. It was simply adorable to see so many tiny creatures dancing the night away.

The crowd went wild with the hot tunes of our very own rhino DJ Azu Catteneo. The venue, a giant treehouse, was beautifully created by our resident Felicity Sneerwell. We had creatures from all over the globe, but in the end the representatives from Australia and Africa, Gahum Riptide & Avery Halberstadt, ended up winning $7,500 L each.

Miss Costa Rica Pageant 2009

Sunday brought us the event that we had been preparing for the past 8 weeks. Unfortunately, this event proved to be a little more challenging than the others. It brought us some of the drama that can only be found in a beauty pageant. There was a rumor floating around in the days prior to the pageant that the scores had been tampered with and the winner had already been chosen. This rumor implied that the individuals responsible with organizing this event would allow this to happen. HarMonica Aabye, Pageant Coordinator, is one of the most respected and honorable person that I know here in Second Life and there is no way, and I repeat no way, that she would allow the legitimacy of the pageant to be comprised. In addition, our panel of judges was carefully selected for their business ethics and reputations, ensuring that the process of selecting Miss Costa Rica Sims 2009 would be fair and impartial. Finally, to avoid any rumors of favoritism by the CEO of the Estate for any of the residents in the event, I chose not to participate in the pageant’s coordination, same as in the year prior. With these protocols in place, we experienced what I believe to be a truly magnificent event, held in a gorgeous mansion created by our very own resident, Estate Builder and Manager, Rawly Rousselot. I was so impressed with the final outcome of Rawly’s creation and I believe that we should find some other use for this beautiful build, continuing to let it see the light of day. As for the play-by-play of the pageant, I will give that honor to HarMonica who will recap the festivities on her own make sure to read all about it in the DivaTude Tab.

Pageant After-Party

At our after party we were treated to the beautiful voice of Louis Volare and the hot tunes of our very own DJ Azu, who closed our 1st year celebration. Overall, I must say that I am very proud of everyone who was involved in the festivities and I cannot be more grateful. It has been an incredible journey that has taken us to 57 sims. Someone said at the party “how many sims do you believe that the Costa Rica Sims will have at its 2nd Anniversary party?” I laugh and responded “only time will tell…”

Love & Light,

GC
