Costa Rica Sims & The Hottest Sl Clubs Fight Against AIDS winner BLU Dancebar

 Hello everyone,

Today, I’m heading over to the famous Blu Dancebar, to chat with gorgeous Divos Titanium, manager of Boystown, and also the Lead Go-go dancer at BLU Dancebar. Through the Boystown team's efforts and hard work, Blu was the club who raised the most money for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids, an amazing L$700,049.

Hi Divos, thank you for taking the time to meet with me today and congrats to you and everyone at Blu Dancebar for winning the first Costa Rica Sims & The Hottest SL Clubs Fight Against AIDS event.  Let's start with some information about the history of Blu Dancebar.

BLU Dancebar was founded over three years ago and the party has not stopped since!  Creator Adham DeCuir constructed the first BLU build on the North Halsted sim, and the club has gone through a number of incarnations over the years to keep the venue fresh and exciting.  BLU Dancebar was eventually moved when the current Boystown sim was opened in April 2009, and the Boystown East residential sim was added later that year.  The club has definitely made its mark on the SL gay community, and we are proud that the business model has influenced a number of other clubs on the grid.

As one of the longest running premiere gay clubs on SL, BLU Dancebar is just one of the venues available on the Boystown sim.  The club offers renown top-quality DJ entertainment alongside the sexy, grid-famous BLU Boy Go-go's.  Club-goers can find the party taking place Monday thru Thursday nights at BLUBoystown also hosts the WEEK-END Street Jam on Friday night, the //SET Event Soundstage costume parties each and every Saturday, and the sizzlin' Cody & Billy's Beach Party weekly on Sundays.  The sims offers something for everyone, so we invite you to come and check us out or visit our webpage.

What intrigued you to be part of this fundraising event?

AIDS is a disease that affects everyone, no matter what age, race, sexual orientation or social status.  No one knows this more than the gay community. While Boystown has previously participated in fundraising events, this one spoke to a number of us because AIDS has, for the most part, had a personal impact on each and every one of our lives.  I can't tell you how many people shared their stories of knowing and loving someone who is HIV positive, or even being positive themselves.  These are people who are members of the BT community and SL as a whole. Boystown wanted to participate in a cause that our friends and family cared about and would impact some of our very own, and the Fight Against AIDS was just that.

Did you set a goal for yourself as to the total Blu Dancebar would attempt to raise?

The initial goal for Boystown was for 150-200k. We have participated in charity events before, and we thought that this would be a reasonable task, especially since the event had a competitive component. The Boystown Crew knew if we decided to participate, we definitely wanted to make our mark.

What were your feelings as your donations started climbing to the amount you eventually raised?

I think the best word to describe it would be "astonished."  Boystown had scheduled a number of events to support our efforts in the Fight Against AIDS, such as AZUL Dancebar, the red-carpet WEEK-END Street Jam event, and the //SET Cowboy event sponsored by a few of SL's top designers.  At each point along the way, the Boystown community was simply stunned by the generosity of it's patrons.  A few of the events we hosted brought in over 150k each for this important cause.  This showcases how simply amazing the Boystown patrons truly are!

Once you heard Blu was announced as the winner, what were your thoughts and what was the reaction within the Blu Dancebar community?

I think I am still in shock.  I had actually heard Boystown was in third place by the end of the first week, so I had no idea what place we were in as the final clock stopped.  When Boystown was announced as the winner, I was so grateful and humbled by the generosity of everyone involved with our sims.  Needless to say, the Boystown community was extremely proud.  It is astonishing what can happen when people join together for a common cause.  I was also extremely honored to be a part of such an incredible network of SL Clubs that helped raised over $6,000 USD to help in the Fight Against AIDS.  SL patrons, regardless of the venue, put their support and care out there and we were all able to accomplish so much.

With the overall success, I’m sure that Costa Rica Sims & Hottest SL Clubs Fight Against AIDS will become an annual event.  Would you have any ideas as how to make the event even bigger and more successful next year?

I have to say I think I speak for everyone at Boystown in saying we had such a great time participating in this cause.  I say for 2012 let's aim for $10,000 USD!  Go big or go home! :)

Divos on behalf of Costa Rica Sims and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids I would like to thank you and everyone at Blu for such an amazing job.

Thanks go out to you and Costa Rica Sims, Brendan!  I know a number of you put in some long hours supporting this important cause.  Also, thank you to Broadway Cares / Equity Fights Against AIDS, all of the outstanding clubs who participated: Club Nine, Velvet Rose, Pride Colors, Tadd's Cabaret, Club Seven, and Starfall, and finally to the members of the Boystown Community.  I look forward to next year and continuing our Fight Against AIDS!
