This Saturday, June 21st, Jac Mornington of the Costa Rica Surf Team will be surfing and representing the Costa Rica Sims in the Flynn Sheridan Invitational Surf Contest to benefit the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. The surf contest is being held in honor of the Second Life Surfing Association founder who is currently fighting his own battle with cancer. The invitational will be held at the Surfline Aloha Rezzable sim. For a landmark and more information about this event there are signs at all the surfing areas and mall. This event is not part of the regular SLSA season, it is a fun event and all proceeds go to a very good charity.
For those of you that aren't aware of it, the Relay for Life has been around in real life since 1985 and has raised more than $1.5 billion for the American Cancer Society. It has been in Second Life for the past four years and in just 2007 alone, Second Life residents raised $118,000 to help fight for a cure.
We are actively looking for other Costa Rica residents who would like to participate right along with Jac and represent Costa Rica Sims. The entry fee for the contest is $500L which goes directly to the charity and the Costa Rica Sims executive team will be matching the entry fee for all those who decide to participate! You don't have to be a pro surfer, it's good fun for a good cause. For more information about how to enter the contest, please instant message Jac Mornington for more information. Deadline to register is this Thursday.
If participating in the surfing invitational just isn't your thing, sponsors are more than welcome. There is a donation box to sponsor Jac for the Costa Rica Sims at the Playa Del Rey EPIC surf area in Costa Rica, - http://slurl.com/secondlife/Pacifico%20Central%201/128/128/0 . All linden donated to this box will be given to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life Kiosk at the event!

Come on out and support our Costa Rica surfers and the American Cancer Society!
~ Felicity
