With the end of the month coming to a close it was time to award the winner of the Natural Wonders Photo Contest with a party at the Opera House and the beautiful songtress Ms. Ceci Dover in attendance.
Costa Rica residents came to congratulate and celebrate with Dahlia Jayaram, who captured a stunning shot of geko Stoop's statue in the geko Stoop forest. I asked Dahlia about her inspiration for the photograph.
"I only know of Geko through Giancarlo's story to me. It is an inspiring story. I started out over at the waterfalls, but after a while, while looking around, I thought more of what Giancarlo told me about Geko and I looked more at the statue and the butterfly really spoke to me, something about the spirit of Geko, and without her, the park would not exist. I wanted to focus on the nature..and then I thought perhaps on Geko. I think too many are tempted to take a picture of themselves enjoying the scenes and make the picture more about themselves than the environment. I did too in some shots, so I wanted to focus away from that style this time."
The result cannot be mistaken, the impact the photograph had on all. As Ceci sang a string of latin beats, the party rolled along into the beautiful afternoon, everyone enjoying the company and Dahlia dancing with her cheerful collection of balloons.
