Physics Lag Mystery SOLVED!

Hello guys!

Before I explain the mystery, I would like to thank Maggie Linden. I know many people complain about how LL handles many things around SL but in my expericence with the concierge team I only have good things to say about them. They are always there and try their best to help us all the time. Maggie is always cheerful, tonight I asked her about that, her response? "I'm just a happy person."

Ok now for the mystery. As you may know the Peninsula Nicoya Sur sim was having some performance issues with the (physics) ms for over a week now. Many other Lindens came to the sim and looked at the problem and as Emi posted on her blogs they were just stumped. Not even our always clever Emi was able to find the root of the problem.

Tonight I went to Concierge Live Chat and asked Maggie to take a look at the sim. Right away she pointed out 3 objects at Azu´s home that were on a fish tank. A turtle, a shark and a seahorse. I told her that we have the same objects around our scuba area, so I didn't think that was the problem and this is what she said...

"Right - On an open space they aren't so bad, really, but because they have to keep doing calculations to figure out how big the aquarium is, they slow the entire region down.  If they aren't set 'physics', most of the time they're okay.
Generally, the lag and time dilation comes from objects that are set physical -- if it's set physical, Havok4 has to try and render the physics. So this can cause lag, if it's not used carefully."

So there you have it. 3 small items where causing an entire region to suffer badly. Please, next time before you buy objects that are "physics" contact Emi for her advice.

The turtle and shark came from Supa's Tropical Fish and the seahorse from 2xtreme.

I would like to thank all our friends at the Peninsula Nicoya Sur sim for their patience. And Azu keep your little pets in your inventory LOL.

Love & Light

GC.
