Most of you are probably aware of the changes in the public areas of the estate. These changes include the new shopping plaza, the roadway connecting the shopping district with Alajuela, the Clubhouse, and the beach, as well as the redesign of the landscaping around the clubhouse. These changes represent the direction for the future of Costa Rica.
Currently, there are several projects in the works. The first change you will see is the next phase of the shopping plaza. This phase will occupy the site where the former shopping district was located, next to the Arenal volcano. There are tentatively 15 new stores planned, as well as a new street layout design, to create more of a village ambiance.
Another big project is the construction of a new clubhouse. This building will serve multi-purposes. In addition to functioning as a public gathering space like the current clubhouse, there will be office space on a second floor, to provide meeting space for the Costa Rica staff. Another use of the new clubhouse will be that of a luxury day spa. We are developing ideas of how people can come and improve their minds, bodies (well, avatars), and spirits.
Soon, there will be a new beach shack, to replace the one that was removed some time ago. This building will have a public space, for parties or get-togethers, and possibly a store that specializes in beach gear. This project is still in the design phase, but is probably going to be two buildings, situated to evoke the charm of a small beach town.
The current proirity is the construction of the set for the Playing With Fire party. The exact date will probably have to be set back from the anticipated date of May 17, due to unforeseen circumstances. This event promises to be one of SL's largest parties of the season, if not THE largest, and the guest list extends far beyond the shores of the Costa Rica sims. Because of this, the design and execution of this event is to be of the finest quality, as it is to be a sort of "coming out" party for Costa Rica in the social scene of SL. The development is going to be kept under a very low profile, in the hopes of maximizing the "wow" factor on the day of the event. No detail is being overlooked in producing something that will make everyone very proud to be a part of this community.
In addition, I am also working on a collection of homes that will fit the theme of Costa Rica.  Unfortunately, this is not a priority at this point. I am gathering ideas and resources, to facilitate the process once this project moves to the forefront.
